Who is Michelle Quiachon?

Michelle Quiachon is currently a junior at SUNY Oswego studying for a BA in Broadcasting and Mass Communications with a Minor in Music.

Michelle’s love of video editing was sparked when she took her Introduction to Television Productions class back in her freshman year of high school. There, she learned how to video edit through WeVideo. Over the years, she has worked with iMovie, WeVideo, Final Cut Pro, and Adobe Premiere. She also loves to teach others the joy of editing and hopes that her website can be a launching point for other young editors who want to create videos.

Currently, she is one of the Vice Presidents of her college’s campus television station, WTOP. She is the Vice President of Creative Services for WTOP. In her position, she is in charge of all the creative aspects for the station such as video, audio, graphics, and photography. She has her own board of directors that she leads to make sure projects run smoothly. Michelle has knowledge over a range of many of the Adobe Creative Suite Apps such as Lightroom, Photoshop, Illustrator, Audition, and Premiere. She even has some experience in Ross Xpression due to making graphics for the studio.

After college, she hopes to be a video editor for a real television station and wants to continue to grow her website to build her portfolio and teach others how to edit.

Courses and Jobs Taken

Vice President of Creative Services for WTOP

Michelle is currently the Vice President of Creative Services for WTOP. There, she is in charge of the photography director, the video editing director, the music director, and the graphics director. Each of them have their own subsequent teams to carry out their projects.

Video Editing Director for WTOP

Before she became the Vice President of Creative Services, Michelle was the Video Editing Director. She had to teach and lead a team of video editors who had no prior experience. She edited the original productions of the station that had to be broadcasted at a later time.

Intern for Agora Media

Michelle worked as an intern for a professional videographer. There, she learned how to edit with Adobe Premiere, Lightroom, and Audition. She has edited event videos and business pitches. She also gained experience filming live events.

Crew Director for WTOP

While also being the Vice President of Creative Services, Michelle has directed several original productions that were broadcasted on WTOP. She was in charge of a crew that consisted of a technical director, a graphics technician, an assistant producer, a teleprompter operator, a floor manager, and camera operators.

President of Broadcasting Club at Shaker High School

Michelle was elected as president of her high school’s broadcasting club during her senior year. She directed multiple broadcasts of her high school’s morning announcements and gained experience editing with Final Cut Pro and WeVideo.

Integrated Media Writing and Design, BRC 223

Michelle was elected as president of her high school’s broadcasting club during her senior year. She directed multiple broadcasts of her high school’s morning announcements and gained experience editing with Final Cut Pro and WeVideo.

Scriptwriting for Television, BRC 428

This course taught Michelle how to write a script for a television show. She learned the basics of how to write a good pilot episode and improved her creative writing skills.

Introduction to Mass Media, BRC 108

This course introduced Michelle to the huge world of mass media and she learned how impactful and important media is to the public.
